what we did
Audiovisual direction of a medium-length video album. The project brings together 14 music videos by pianist Olinda Allessandrini performing the music of Brazilian, Argentine, and Uruguayan composers, inspired by the region's folk culture. The performances interact with scenes recorded by the director and crew on a road trip along the Brazil-Uruguay border. Performing a selection of works by Brazilian, Uruguayan, and Argentine composers, the pianist invites us on a poetic journey through the pampas region, whose shared culture blurs the borders of the countries in the extreme south of the Americas. Visual essays on the land, people, and their labors interact with an exclusive piano repertoire, reinterpreting local traditions and proposing a contemporary experience of music and image. Vast, boundless landscapes; dresses and boots; country warehouses; literary quotations by poet Nelson Coelho de Castro; Olinda's reflections on the world of the piano—all the power and lyricism of a local music without borders.
