what we did
We follow visual artist Camila Soato, a native of Planaltina de Goiás, Goiás, and active in Brasília, DF, during the creative process of her intervention on one of the walls of the Ling Institute. The work is part of the "Ling Presents" project, this year focusing on the Central-West region of Brazil, curated by Paulo Henrique Silva.
Camila Soato develops practical and theoretical research in figurative painting, drawing, and performance. Her work addresses themes such as feminism, gender, and fuleragem. Combining comical scenes featuring clumsy or perverse characters drawn from banal everyday life with expressive brushstrokes, stains, and drips of paint, her works reveal a violent charge that contrasts with satirical humor. She values improvisation and embraces error as a poetic index, praising carelessness; the juxtaposition of these elements creates bizarre narratives.
