what we did
We followed visual artist Caio Aguiar, aka Bonikta, from Pará, for a week during the creative process of his intervention on one of the walls of the Ling Institute. The Bonikta characters—originally by the artist and also inspired by the tradition of Amazonian enchantments—emerge as inhabitants of the streams, populating the landscape in various forms. Evoking play, celebration, and childhood imagination, they also present themselves as guardians of the Amazon biome, demanding respect for nature. The mural, titled "Backyard of the Home Street," references the artist's childhood in Ourém, a municipality in northeastern Pará. The work is part of the "Ling Presents" project, curated by Vânia Leal.
